Karachi- Routers , Pakistan skipper Shahid Khan Afridi on his Facebook account updated status that Indian media's dream to remove me from Pakistan's Captaincy will remain dream.He updated this after Sangakara resigns from Sri lanka team captaincy after losing final against India.

It is also noted that one of Indian news channel has threaten Afridi that he could be 5th Captain who will lose his captaincy after losing semi final against Dhoni-11 before semi final.But now 5th captain comes in Sangakara resign.Afridi took this as a challenge and he said that I will not resign and will make Pakistan team strong side which will be Predictable and will defeat any team in future.He said if board will allow me to select players what I want than I will show positive results in Future.

Some of Afridi fans has commented on his status that Afridi will remove Dhoni from captaincy rather than Dhoni remove him.They said if Pakistan beat India in any future tour or in any ICC event like T20 CUP or Champions trophy , Indian media will rape Dhoni and Dhoni will definitely have to resign.They even didn't remember what Dhoni have done for India if Dhoni got defeat from Pakistan team.

Karachi- Shahid Khan Afridi says that Indian media is very negative.There is so much negativity in the Indian media. There is nothing positive to watch on the channels and we are just sticking together as a team and it is just the hotel and ground for us.
But his remarks on Indian media and people took hard in India.Indian media again starts negative propaganda against him.

Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar arrives Lahore

 LAHORE: Warm welcome was accorded by a big crowd to Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, who gave cent percent performance in cricket World Cup 2011, after his arrival at Allama Iqbal International Airport in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Talking to media persons Dar said, "I am proud to represent Pakistan in the final of the cricket’s mega event was played between India and Sri Lanka.”

He thanked the Government of Pakistan and Government of Punjab for granting him Pride of Performance award.

Dar while praising Pakistani performance in the mega event said that overall performance in the world cup was satisfactory but they took two or three wrong decisions like power play were not taken on time.

He said defending champion Australia and hot favourite South Africa were failed to reach in the semi-final while Pakistan qualified but unfortunately was defeated by India.

It is worth mentioning here that not a single decision of Aleem Dar was withdrawn through UDRS, an umpire referral system.

Dar said UDRS is a good system and the systems would help to improve the performance of the umpires.

Tendulkar has no retirement plans

 NEW DELHI: Indian batting superstar Sachin Tendulkar said Monday he had no plans to retire after his World Cup triumph, but said the team would miss outgoing coach Gary Kirsten.

India regained the World Cup after 28 years with a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final in Mumbai on Saturday under former South African batsman Kirsten.

"Personally, I would say Gary (Kirsten) should continue but he has family commitments," Tendulkar told a local TV channel.

"I respect his decision. We will miss him a lot. It's been a pleasure to work with him. He's probably worked harder than anyone else."

India not only secured the number-one ranking in Tests and number two in one-day internationals under Kirsten, but also became a formidable force both at home and away.

Tendulkar, the world's leading run scorer in both Tests (14,692) and one-day internationals (18,111), became a World Cup winner for the first time on his sixth and probably last appearance in the tournament.

He said winning the World Cup was his biggest cricketing moment and wished he could have shared it with his father.

"I miss my father. He would be proud. My kids being there for the victory lap made it even more special," said Tendulkar, whose father died during the 1999 World Cup, adding that he had no plans to retire.

"I can't believe we're the world champions. I am enjoying cricket too much to retire from any form of the game," said Tendulkar, who will turn 38 this month.

The master batsman rated Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the "best captain" for leading the team shrewdly in the high-pressure tournament.

"He (Dhoni) reads the situation well, is open to ideas and above all he stays calm and doesn't show frustration," Tendulkar said.

It was the second major title India had won under Dhoni after the World Twenty20 Championships in South Africa in 2007.

Tendulkar said India had peaked at the right time.

"In the knockout stage, we peaked at the right time. We batted, fielded and bowled well. You see effort from all players. Performance no one can guarantee, but effort you can guarantee," said Tendulkar.

India beat defending champions Australia in the quarter-finals and Pakistan in the semi-final before prevailing over Sri Lanka.

Afridi says he is thankful to nation

 KARACHI: Skipper national cricket team Shahid Khan Afridi said that he was thankful to entire nation from the bottom of his heart upon the high support extended to team from nation, Geo News reported.

He vowed to display a good show on continuous basis on the condition of this support from nation which team is enjoying at this point of time.

“Players, hailing from all four provinces, were playing in the squad,” Afridi highlighted, detailing further that players’ goal was to play with unity and that, according to him, helped players reached semifinal of the mega event.

“We were the only team that forced India to get out at that low total,” Afridi mentioned lamenting that his side’s batting failed to click when needed the most.

He said that senior players should be dropped from West Indies tour to give them a rest.

Pakistan team returns to warm welcome, Shahid Afridi critical of Rehman Malik

Notwithstanding the loss in the high-voltage World Cup semifinal encounter with India, the Pakistan cricket team today received a rousing welcome on its return home even as the country's media heaped praise on its remarkable performance despite "facing much hardship in recent times".
Skipper Shahid Afridi and his men, who were not among the favourites at the start of the Cup but managed to reach the semifinals, were cheered when they arrived in Karachi with die-hard fans greeting them at the airport.
After being mobbed at the Karachi airport, Afridi was accompanied by legions of fans to his home, some 10km from the terminal.
Afridi, who had inspired his men still recovering from the spot-fixing scandal in London last summer, was critical of interior minister Rehman Malik on his remarks warning them against match-fixing on the eve of the Mohali encounter.
"I think the statement made by (Interior Minister) Rehman Malik, I don't think the timing was right. He telephoned me three or four times and he tried to explain things but I could not understand what he was saying as I was busy with my work. I think he made a mistake and I hope such mistakes aren't made by anyone in future," Afridi said.
On the high-pressure match which Pakistan lost by 29 runs, Afridi said his fears of a batting collapse came true.
"I think the way we have been struggling with our batting, there should be a coach to work out with the batsmen," he said.
"I think I had a fear that our batting could collapse, our batting had been struggling from the first match to the last. I will give credit to the bowlers from the first match to the last," he added.
Afridi was also critical of pacer Shoaib Akhtar for announcing his retirement in the middle of the World Cup.
"His timing was not right and he should have properly consulted and spoken to us about his decision. He should have either announced his intention to retire before the start of the tournament or after it, it made no sense to announce his retirement in the middle of the World Cup," he said.
The players were showered with flowers and welcomed with banners and buntings. A similar welcome awaited them when many of them reached Lahore by another flight.
Politicians also joined fans in welcoming the team in Lahore. The ministers were led by chief minister of Punjab province, Shahbaz Sharif, at the Lahore airport.
"It is a historic moment in Pakistan cricket that the chief minister himself has taken the initiative to come and welcome our players," Pakistan cricket board chief Ijaz Butt said.
"You have done us proud by reaching the semi-finals after beating bigger teams. Victory and defeat is part and parcel of the game and we accept it," Shahbaz told reporters at the airport.
"The people appreciate your hard work and hope you will continue to perform and improve in the same manner," he said while announcing a grand reception for the players on April 5 in Lahore.
The Punjab CM has already announced cash prizes of Rs five lakh for each player and official for their performances.
The Pakistan squad reached Karachi from India via Dubai early this morning.
While Afridi, Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq left for their homes in Karachi, the rest of the players flew to Lahore.
The warm reception was a welcome aberration for thePakistan players, who had been been subjected to ridicule and abuse by angry fans on many occasions in the past.
Butt said he was happy to see the response of the people.
"I am happy to see the welcome given to the players because they need our support and encouragement to perform better in future," Butt said.
The media lavished praise on the team, saying that the side could hold its heads high.
"The Pakistan team will not be carrying a trophy as it arrives back home from its World Cup outing in India but the players should carry their heads high," The Express Tribune newspaper said in its editorial.
"Regardless of the semi-final loss to hosts India at Mohali, Pakistan has performed remarkably well for a team which has suffered so much hardship in recent times," it added.
"The Pakistan team has done its country proud and deserves to be treated as champions who have excelled both in their demonstration of spirit and of skill, and as ambassadors of peace. They deserve a round of standing applause," the daily said.
"Afridi spoke with maturity and good grace as he praised the Indian effort and apologised to his nation," The Express Tribune said in its editorial 'Stand up for the champions'.
The News, in its editorial, said Pakistan's "brave cricketing performance at the World Cup should make us all proud".
The Frontier Post's editorial lauded the Pakistan team for overcoming its reputation as underdogs going into the tournament following the banning of three top players -

Lahore (Routers) Cable Operator Association of Pakistan called Strike on 19 March 2011 from 12 pm PST till 24 hours onward.They will shut down all channels except PTV (government channel).
The whole drama begins when Geo files case against their rights of World cup matches in Pakistan in Supreme court and they won the case that only GEO SUPER will telecast all matches of World cup 2011 live in Pakistan.If any channel wants to present match than it has to buy rights from Geo group.But PTV can broadcast match on terrestrial.
PTV broadcast match on terrestrial but they also telecast it on its satellite which is not allowed according to judiciary's decision.And Cable operators continuing presenting Star cricket on cable which has no rights to broadcast match in Pakistan.Cable operators broadcast this channel through their digital service to enter their advertisement between the match to earn revenue.While GEO SUPER was giving lots of advertisement between match so viewers got pissed off and changed channels to other channels.So Geo was losing advertisement due to unpopularity of their channel.So they filled case against Cable operators to shut all
channels who are telecasting world cup matches.
But Cable operators threatened GEO GROUPS that if they went again in court or if PEMRA took any action against them than they will shut GEO till the end of world cup matches.
Geo complained PEMRA about this and PEMRA took strong action against Cable operators of Pakistan and took their some important instruments in custody.
So now Cable operator's Association of Pakistan (CAP) decides to protest against it.And they decided to Shut all channels except PTV who can telecast match on Saturday.

“You can see the progress in Irish cricket through the performances of guys like Kevin,” said Alan Lewis, the former Ireland captain.

“He is one of five full-time professionals based in Ireland, as is John Mooney, who played such a crucial innings at the death here.

“That professionalism marks them out from the previous generation of Ireland players. Take Jason Molins, another very talented Railway Union batsman, who used to leave work in London at 6pm on a Friday, rush to the airport, and find himself facing Wasim Akram in a one-day international in Dublin the following morning.

“I remember Jason telling me that he once went two years without an outside net. That can hardly be considered the best preparation.
"But now our best players have a chance to prepare properly. Mooney, for instance, was an electrician but is now a full-time cricketer.”
O’Brien’s stint at Nottinghamshire was not a huge success, at least in terms of runs. In 10 completed innings, he only reached double figures three times, with a best of 42.
As his county team-mate Mark Wagh put it, “He’s obviously improved quite a lot since then.” But Wayne Noon, Nottinghamshire’s assistant coach, said he had been impressed by O’Brien’s “cricket awareness”, especially his running between the wickets.
In fact, O’Brien gave a talk to the younger players about the niceties of running, including advice on exactly how far you can get away with backing up.
That is in keeping with Ireland’s focus on the “one-percenters” since they came under the wing of Adrian Birrell, the tough South African who coached them from 2002 to 2007.
Birrell demanded that Ireland should become the third-best fielding side in the world, behind the untouchables of South Africa and Australia, and their outcricket comfortably outclassed England’s yesterday.
“Kevin was a very strong package,” says Noon, because he could smack it out of the park, he bowled some useful overs, and he had a superb pair of hands anywhere in the field.
Apart from his obvious power, he also timed the ball really nicely. We would have given him another one-day contract last season, but he decided he was better off staying in Ireland, because they play so many more games now.
“In a way I’m not surprised that he’s done something exceptional, because he always had great potential. And this innings was no fluke: he paced it beautifully.
"If that innings had been played by one of the big names in this World Cup, a Tendulkar or a Gayle, everyone would be raving about it. Now Kevin might just have set himself up for a nice little deal in the Indian Premier League.”
In his time between county matches, O’Brien took a professional’s role at Plumtree in a rather different premier league. The Nottinghamshire Premier League, that is. Again, runs did not flow freely, but club officials speak warmly of him.
“Kevin was a terrific influence on Plumtree,” Ian Smith said. “He was very focused and his will to win really rubbed off on the other guys.
"A lot of the professionals you see at this level just take the money and run, but Kevin was always in contact with us on text on Facebook to see what was going on, even when he was away with Nottinghamshire or Ireland.
“In fact his bowling was probably better than his batting,” added Smith, “and he turned in some really tight spells. When we went to Papplewick, they had Phil DeFreitas and Stuart Law clubbing the ball around, but they weren’t taking any liberties against Kevin.”

Pakistan scored 277 for 7 in their 50 overs with Misbahul Haq hitting an unbeaten 83 and Younis Khan scoring 72 before restricting the home team to 266-9.

“That was a big game and the boys all knew how big that game was,” said Afridi, praising Misbah and Younis for “very mature cricket”.

Afridi, who took four wickets for just 34 runs in his 10-over spell to earn the man-of-the-match award, said the pitch offered “beautiful conditions” for both pace bowlers and spinners

He added that his team would put a sloppy fielding performance behind them.

“The boys were a little bit relaxed but we should tell them this is cricket, you don’t, especially on a stage like this, relax. But I know that they will definitely do better in the upcoming games,” Afridi said.

“I think it’s a great message for other teams that we will come harder and harder game by game.”

A disappointed Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakarra praised his bowlers for keeping the Pakistan score down but said losing a clutch of wickets at the wrong time hurt them.

“Any defeat is tough but (there are) quite a few positives to take. I think we bowled pretty well on a flat deck,” said the skipper, who struck 49.

“I think we made it a bit difficult for ourselves by losing wickets but we got a good start. We needed a couple of blokes to just kick on from there and keep batting for a longer time. Unfortunately Pakistan played very well,” he added.

“I thought we dragged it back really well to keep them to 270. We chased pretty well but left a bit too much for ourselves to do at the end,” he said.

He has the pace, precision and experience to prove decisive in both segments. Although a proven match-winner, he is prone to injury - more than is usual for fast bowlers. After todays defeat with Newzealand a question mark against Afridi's captaincy created whether he will be captain or not in World cup.PCB has not announced captain for World cup 2011 yet.There was a lot of pressure upon Afridi in this ODI series.Afridi face shows pressure in the match and he got out on a cut shot.While Misbah was looking cool and definitely he has no pressure regarding anything because he had won Test series after many years and his named comes as a Captain in World cup.So he was playing sensibly but Afridi is in huge pressure and is now got a lot after losing match.

Ex-cricketers are continuously criticizing PCB for not announcing captain for World cup yet.They said that Afridi should be captain in World cup 2011 but what Ijaz Butt wants no one knows.

There is a grouping in the team who does not want Afridi as captain in World cup.If PCB announced the captain with squad than there was no grouping created and Team shows his unity in the match because they knew that their captain is Afridi till world cup but now players got power to show their strength against captain.

It is same situation like in 2003 when board announced WAQAR YOUNIS as captain intead of Wasim Akram and we didn't reach for super sixes.After which many senior players resigns and we went to rebuild our team.
