Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice has a fine baseball program this spring and our voters thought that we should take notice.
After a total of 308 votes cast this last week, Brother Rice baseball collected 68 votes (22.08%) to claim its spot as the winner of our Metro Detroit team of the week.
MLive.com's Jared Purcell will provide special coverage on Friday this week when Brother Rice hosts Catholic League Central foe Dearborn Divine Child.
At the event, Jared plans on having more than just game stories. We'll have special feature video with footage shot by players and coaches as well. Jared will also provide videos and photos of the event as well.
We want to show everyone a glimpse into what this team is all about and what makes them tick.
Brother Rice is currently enjoying a superb start with a 13-1 record and 11-1 in the Catholic High School League. It's only loss was a 6-5 decision to Divine Child in the first game of a double header back on April 6.
Divine Child is the defending Division 2 state champion while Brother Rice is the defending Catholic League champion.
In the early stages of voting last week, Brother Rice pulled away from the Warren De La Salle boys lacrosse team that finished second in the poll with 45 votes (14.61%). Northville girls soccer made a late run and finished right behind De La Salle with 44 votes (14.29%) while Canton was also in the running with 43 votes (13.96%).
The rest of the poll finished as follows:
Walled Lake Central boys track and field 12.01% (37 votes)
Madison Heights Bishop Foley baseball 9.42% (29 votes)
North Farmington softball 7.47% (23 votes)
Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes girls soccer 6.17% (19 votes)
